Vortex technology developed by NTU spin-off speeds up cooling while saving energy

NTU Professor Choo Fook Hoong, co-director of Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N) has launched Vortec – a new ceiling fan that cools a small room twice as fast as a conventional fan while consuming half the energy. Vortec is designed to generate airflow by creating a controlled vortex.

The bladeless fan is safe to be mounted lower than conventional ceiling fans, and also comes with LED lighting and a UV light air purifier

First conceptualized by Prof Choo about ten years ago, Vortec fans have now been installed at several locations at the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore), where they have been proven effective.
